We place here reports about main events concerning the development of scientific studies on Shalamov's works and biography (such as conferences, Shalamov readings, books and articles publications), and also information about any act of perpetuation of writer's memory. • International Symposium "The Gulag in Writings of Solzhenitsyn and Shalamov: Fact, Document, Fiction" (Uppsaala, Sweden) (20 april 2017 — 21 april 2017)

• The symposium is organized by the UCRS, Dalarna University and University of Oslo. For more information see the Programme of the Symposium.

• A panel entitled “Shalamov as a Revolutionary” has been accepted for the ASEEES 45th Annual Convention, which will be held in Boston in November 2013 (21 november 2013 — 24 november 2013)

• The following scholars will participate in the panel: Elena Mikhailik (University of New South Wales, Australia), Olga Cooke (Texas A&M University, USA), Josefina Lundblad (University of California at Berkeley, USA), Michael Nicholson (Oxford University, UK), and Reed Johnson (University of Virginia, USA). The conference will take place November 21-24 in Boston, MA.

• “Varlam Shalamov’s Life and Works in the Context of World Literature and Soviet History” Conference (16 june 2011 — 19 june 2011)

• Nowadays the peculiarities of Soviet history, its cultural experience and historical memory of the repressions period attract the attention of researchers in all fields of humanitarian knowledge. Varlam Shalamov’s personality and works invariably become the focus of these discussions. His works offer a challenge, requiring understanding of the historical and literary background and, what is more, requiring a deeply interested reader, realizing the historical trauma inflicted on this country by Stalinism. It is virtually impossible to understand the essence of this trauma and to prevent setbacks without understanding Shalamov.

• Shalamov’s birthday and the second life of “The Fourth Vologda”, his autobiographical essay (8 july 2009)

• On the 18th of June, 2009, the Shalamov’s memorial meeting took place in Vologda. It was held during a session of the local historians’ club at the Museum of the Political Exile.
